As a teacher...
I work in an FE College with students of ESOL and Digital Skills. Privately, I teach flute and saxophone having studied both since I was a child. As well as having grade 8 flute distinction, I studied with 2 shakuhachi flute masters both in England and Japan.
I have a full DBS check and Certificate in Education alongside my BA in Music and English and MA in Japanese Studies specialising in East Asian Music.
As a composer...
I often work with the animation agency Tee Hee and am working on a series of projects with them to be released in 2026. My recent score for the satirical animation Phish premiered at the 2024 Rouen This is England festival where our previous feature Norvölk also premiered in 2021. My music also underpins the BAFTA award winning film-maker Charles Stewart's hard-hitting documentary, Nobody Told Us Anything which deals with the aftermath of the Pacific atom bomb tests.
With degrees in Music, English and Japanese, and specialisations in music for drama as well as ethnomusicology, I am comfortable working in many genres.
I play the flute, shakuhachi flute, saxophones and piano - and do so with the folk rock band Miss Havisham's Digital Clock.
